Failte thanks for dropping in, I am Magaidh a native Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland a tour guide, actor and cultural educator. My Hebridean island heritage is at the core of my work.
Growing up in the 1960/70s in a traditional island crofting community, a way of life which was soon to change drastically. Realising the richness and fragility of community oral tradition or beul aithris, I embarked on a mission to record and share as much information as I could. Beul aithris later became some of the articles featured on this site.
I live by the seasons like so many islanders. A tour guide and AirBnB host during the summer months. The rest of the year I can be found working in arts development, acting, or up to my oxters in research relating to Gaidhlig or some aspect of historical or contemporary island life.
